Bishops Lydeard Station
Between its opening in 1862 and 1979 Bishops Lydeard station was a wayside village railway station, but for the last thirty years it has been the southern terminus of the line and many developments have been carried out to meet is new role.
Bishops Lydeard station now boasts a well-stocked model, book and souvenir shop and café in a purpose-built building which also houses the booking office whilst the former goods shed is now the Gauge Museum with a collection of historic railway artefacts both large and small and a model railway on the upper floor.
A dedicated building is the home of the Taunton Model Railway Group who open their doors to the public during Special Events weekends and give visitors a chance to see their award winning skills.
Bishops Lydeard is the first station on the West Somerset Railway.
