The South West Coastal Path which runs via Lands End to Poole starts adjacent to the harbour which sees visits from the Bristol Channel Cruise ships "Balmoral” and "Waverley” on days in the summer when the tides are right.
Minehead Station
Minehead station is on the other side of the road from the beach and just off the town centre. It is a ten minute walk from the Butlin Holiday Centre and for those who are looking for a quieter day out the Old Town on North Hill rewards exploration.
Minehead station itself has a cafeteria and a well-stocked shop whilst the old goods shed and goods yard area is now home to the WSR’s Locomotive Department. Once again the sheds are not normally open to the public but most of the locomotives which are not working trains can be seen from the platform.
This is also home to the Railway Company’s main retails outlet "The Buffer Stop Shop” (open on every day when the trains are operating and between 10.30 and 3.30 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in the winter months.). The "Readers Halt” second-hand bookstall is the main fund-raiser for the Friends of Minehead Station.
Minehead is the tenth and last station on the West Somerset Railway.
